21-23 Jun 2024 – 9th Annual Kansas Legacy Run ** Updated ***

The 2024 Kansas Legacy Run will be held 21-23 June, starting at Post 136 in Mulvane.  The three day run will travel over 600 miles in SE/Eastern Kansas, visiting six American Legion Posts and holding wreath laying ceremonies at five breathtaking memorials.

The cage run was conducted on 24-25 Feb, with the KLR committee verifying the route, stops and locations where law enforcement and our road guards will need to provide support to ensure rider safety.

The Pre-run on bikes was conducted on May 3-5 with the entire KLR Logistics Team – Road Captain teams, Road Guards and Support team, checking route timing, current road conditions, and fine tuning the route.

Before the Run begins at Post 136, the Unit 136 Auxiliary will be providing a hot breakfast starting at 0630. Be sure to come early and enjoy a great breakfast to start the day!

After the all riders meeting at 0715, the Run will depart Post 136 at 0800 and travel to the Winfield Veterans Home to greet the residents there. Then, we’ll travel to Independence and visit their magnificent Veterans Freedom Square for the first time on the KLR and lay a wreath.  Following that, we’ll go to Post 139 for a lunch provided by the great American Legion Family there. After lunch, we’ll visit Post 102 in Erie, KS, home of the Old Soldiers and Sailors Reunion, which is in its 151st year.  We’ll move on to Pittsburg and end the day with a wreath laying at the Pittsburg Veterans Memorial on the Pittsburg State University campus, arriving at about 1540 hrs. The riders will be relased for the day there.

Day 2 of the 2024 KLR will depart from Pittsburg at 0800 and travel to Blue Mound, home of PDC Marri Krupco for a wreath laying and comfort stop.  (Hopefully we’ll get to spoil Byron a little, too.)  From there we’ll make a gas stop at Garnett, then proceed to Post 5 in Emporia for lunch.  Following a great meal, we’ll ride to Osage City for a wreath laying at their Veterans Memorial and a gas stop.  We’ll finish the day at a very impressive memorial on the town square in Ottawa at 1550 hrs.

On both day 1 and 2, we’ll be off the bikes by around 1600 hrs, leaving time to relax, cool off, and enjoy an evening of camaraderie with your fellow riders.

On Day 3, we’ll depart Ottawa at 0730 hrs for a gas stop in Council Grove, and travel on to the end of the run in McPherson at Post 24 at 1115 hrs.

Online registration is preferred, but you can still send in paper and a check if you’d like – the forms are below, and should be mailed to Argonne Post 180, Attn Kansas Legacy Run, Box 721, Great Bend KS 67530.

Sponsorships are still available, and have the same format as last year – Supporting Sponsorship for a donation of $100-$249, and a Premier Sponsorship for $250 or more. All sponsors will be listed on the KLR t-shirt and booklet, with Premier Sponsors featured in both places. Sponsors will receive a t-shirt as well. Sponsorship donations should be sent to Argonne Post 180, Attn Kansas Legacy Run, Box 721, Great Bend KS 67530.
